Why?

For the past three years I’ve kept a blog on LiveJournal.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that particular forum, but my LJ page has become more of a dumping ground.  A place to lement about the lack of snow in winter, the forest fires in summer; a forum to post things I want to remember; a blog of the ordinary things that make up my ordinary life.  It serves that purpose well, and I’ve made some good friends there.  But the vibe there is all wrong for what I wish to fill these pages with: My own personal, spiritual and creative development.  The self-discovery mission that I’ve been contemplating for some time, and have sporadically begun.  But I figured, if I give myself a dedicated place – A Zenana of the Soul – it will be a better medium for me to do more than simply think.  It will give me a place to explore in the written realm.

In regards to creativity, I also have a place where I post artwork that I’ve been creating (you can find that on the side bar under My Creative Year).  As part of this mission of discovery, I’ve given myself a challenge to create.  Create in any manner that moves me for a year straight.  They say it only takes 40 days to develop a habit.  So at the end of the year, I’m hoping to have created a habit of creativity.

So this is the reason for the smattering of blogs.  Whereas I began my creative self-challenge on Groundhog Day, I’m dedicating this space to my musings on self-discovery on the doorstep of the Spring Equinox…
